Biography Pirmin Breu

Pirmin Breu is a Dogma Painter. His "filming" equipment consists of aerosol, airbrush or paintbrush; his paintings arise with the moment - no deception, and no unnecessary special effects. The inner pressures, that move the artist and the world around him, are released during the act of spraying, as if the artist himself were the paint can and the spray button his release valve. He is a street artist who has developed his very own spray and brush painting technique, inspired during countless trips within in Europe and longer stays in the USA, Mexico, Argentina and Thailand. His sprya cans release not just colour but life, in the shape of these lively and vivacious beings that Breu affectionately calls "my people". When they jump, dance, skip or stand head over heels they are bursting with the joys of life and have their own originality which, despite their reduced detail, makes them so likeable.
But even they cannot avoid the adversities in life - war, mourning, anger or pain. Then they fall over, lose their way, become bloodstained or crippled. But deep down Pirmin Breu's people are happy souls - lively, inquisitive and genuine. The work that looks so light-hearted on the canvas has evolved over weeks and months in the mind of the artist. When he pushes the button on the can and releases the spray, that is when the freedom for spontaneity, and the unforeseen, opens up.

Worked in Germany, Spain, and Holland

1996 – 1997

Studied English and art in San Diego, CA Became a member of the Art Institute of San Diego Painted mural on borderwall in Tecate, Mexico Performed live at the Guild Theater in San Diego Appeared on Channel 6 in "Breaking Convention" in San Diego,CA broadcasted nationally Worked in Mexico for seven months Painted mural "El Camino a la Felicidad" in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Performed live mural painting in Mexico City which was broadcasted on TV Azteca; Performed live in Montpellier, France

1998

Made living out of commissioned works and exhibitions Worked in Mexico for five months Worked in New York for one month

2000

Painted an airplane PC 12 for Pinball Aircraft Denver in Cheyenne, USA 2001 Held exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany, France Performed live in Muri, Switzerland

2002

Painted mural in Buenos Aires, Argentina Performed live «Flying high» at the Voegeligaertli in Lucerne

2003

2004

Visited Buenos Aires for three months and exhibited "Argentina in my Eyes" in the Sede Club Europeo in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

2005

Moved into a new Studio in Wohlen, Switzerland Exhibition with Marshall Art "Living and Leaving the Streets" at the Kulturmarkt in Zurich, Switzerland Exhibition for Marshall Art in Rüschlikon, Switzerland Exhibition at the Studio 222 in San Diego, USA

2006

Open House Exhibition at the Studio in Wohlen, Switzerland Exhibiton at the Armehuus in Villmergen, Switzerland Traveled to Thailand and began the sculpture series "Silent Witness" Exhibiton of "Argentina, Heaven and Human" at the Studio in Wohlen

2007

Will travel to New Orleans to continue Sculpture series, "Silent Witness" Exhibiton at Welmers in Wohlen, Switzerland Exhibiton with Marshall Art at Kulturmakt in Zurich, Switzerland Exhibiton at fantasyworkshop in Muri, Switzerland Exhibiton with Marshall Art at Art and Style in St Gallen, Switzerland and one Exhibiton in the JF Gallery in Zurich. A Single Exhibitons in Wohlen, Switzerland and one in the Gallery Schriever in Köln, Germany.At the end of the year there was another Group Exhibiton "Urban Art" in Huninnge, France.

2009

Installation for 4 months at the Paradeplace in Zurich. Traverl to Havana Cuba incl. 3 murals wit a political Statement. After an Exhibiton in Muri "Havanna libre". December
Paint Travel to California and having an Exhibiton with artist Friend Roberto Pozos "Mixtart".

2010

Gets the chance after 14 Years trying to paint the Border Wall, one spot in Las Playas, next to Tjiuana and paints there 100 meter Borderwall with the Help of the Border Angels In March dies his great friend and Graffiti Father Dare ! Who leaves a big empty space behind ! In April is another Exhibiton Marshall Art in Zurich. In May Pirmin is part of the "artcollission" in Wettingen for one week with a sculpture, Switzerland. In the end of May he shows over painted street signs at the factory Robert Wild AG in Muri, Switzerland.
